The Next Big Thing

Garrett Cook  tagged me for the Next Big Thing meme. This is a fun meme for writers and readers—writers get to talk about their current projects and readers not only get a taste of what’s to come from favorite writers, they get introduced to new awesome writers.

So, without further ado, my Next Big Thing…

What is the working title of your book?

What genre does your book fall under?

Dark fantastical horrific bizarro. Heart hole bunny fuck.

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?

None of them! We’re casting unknowns! We can’t you thinking, “Oh, that’s Brad Pitt on the screen. Nothing’s going to happen to Brad Pitt.” No, this book is brutal! And you have to believe it going in.

What is the one sentence synopsis of your book?

How about a logline instead?

The Shining meets Watership Down with sprinkles of Donnie Darko and Ginsberg’s “Howl.”

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?

I’ll be starting with traditional publishing channels.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

One month. It needs a major rewrite!

What other books within this genre would you compare your book to?

Satan Burger, Sea of Patchwork Cats, Angeldust Apocalypse, Starfish Girl.

Who or what inspired this book?

The books listed in the logline and lots of creepy bunny pictures on the Internet. Also: my brain.

What else about this book might pique a reader’s interest?

Bunnies! Evile bunnies!

Who did you tag and why?

Justin Grimbol  because he has an outrageous imagination and sense of fun.

Constance Ann Fitzgerald because she is a fine writer and I want to see what else she’s got in store for us.

Ross Lockhart’s  first book, Chick Bassist, just came out and it’s amazing. Whatever else he’s got up his sleeve is going to rock.
